How We Think About Teaching

Getting the Foundation Right

We've seen what happens when children are taught well from the start — they pick things up faster, they stay curious, and they don't develop the kind of gaps that are hard to fill later. That's what drives everything we do here.

Our classes combine solid academic work with activities that let children think, create, and explore. We keep expectations high, but we also know that a child who feels comfortable and supported will always outperform one who is anxious and pressured. Both things matter — and we don't sacrifice one for the other.

Children settle when they know what's coming next. Our daily timetable is consistent — learning time, activity time, rest time — and children are calmer and more focused for it.

Character Alongside Academics

Good grades matter. So does knowing how to behave, how to treat people, and how to handle things when they don't go your way. We work on both.

Ages 2 – 5

Program One

Nursery Program

A warm, structured setting where very young children begin to learn — through play, conversation, stories, and gentle routine.

For children this young, how they feel about school matters just as much as what they learn. So we start by making sure they feel at home — with familiar faces, a clear routine, and teachers who give them time to settle at their own pace.

Once they're comfortable, learning happens naturally. We don't push children too fast or hold them back. Teachers watch how each child is developing and talk regularly with parents so that what's happening at school and what's happening at home are working together, not against each other.

What Nursery Children Learn

Early Literacy

Letters, sounds, phonics and simple words — through songs, stories and everyday conversation

Numbers & Counting

Numbers, shapes, patterns and basic counting in ways that actually make sense to small children

Getting Along With Others

Sharing, taking turns, making friends and learning how to talk through feelings

Creative Activities

Art, music, drama and imaginative play — because these things are how young children process and understand their world

Primary 1 – 6

Program Two

Primary Program

A full, properly structured curriculum that gets children ready — academically and personally — for secondary school.

Primary school is where the real work begins, and we take it seriously. Every subject is taught properly — not rushed through, not skipped when things get difficult. Teachers assess each pupil regularly and adjust how they're teaching based on what they're seeing in the classroom.

Beyond lessons, primary pupils get to take on responsibilities, join in competitions and school events, and develop a sense of who they are. By the time a child finishes Primary 6 with us, they don't just know their subjects — they're ready for what comes next.

English Language

Reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary & spoken English

Mathematics

Number work, problem-solving, geometry & mental arithmetic

Basic Science

Biology, chemistry & physics explored through practical activities

Social Studies

History, geography, civic education & Nigerian cultural studies

Optional Programme

Madrasah Programme

For Muslim families who want their children to receive Islamic education alongside their regular schooling, we offer an optional after-school Madrasah Programme on the school premises.

It's completely voluntary and doesn't affect anything in the regular school day. Sessions run Monday to Thursday from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, which means parents who want this for their children don't need to arrange separate transport or enrol elsewhere — it all happens in one place.

Keeping Parents in the Picture

Assessment & Reporting

We track how every child is doing and make sure parents hear about it — the good and the areas where more work is needed.

Ongoing Assessment

Teachers watch and note how each child is doing in class, every day — not just at exam time. Problems get spotted and dealt with early.

Termly Reports

Three times a year, parents receive a full written report covering academic scores, behaviour, and how the child is getting on socially.

Parent Meetings

Each term, parents and teachers meet face to face to talk through the child's progress — and raise any concerns on either side.

Quizzes & Competitions

Regular class quizzes and inter-class competitions keep children engaged, test what they've actually retained, and reward genuine effort.
