Daily Rhythm
A Day at Fahmid
Each school day runs to a timetable that our pupils know well — classroom lessons, physical activity, prayer, and plenty of time to eat, play, and catch their breath. The routine is consistent enough that children settle quickly, and varied enough to keep them engaged from start to finish.
Knowing what comes next gives children confidence, and that consistency is reflected in their focus, behaviour, and readiness to learn.
School Hours
The school gathers together to open the day with prayers, the national anthem, and a short message. Notices are shared and the right tone is set before everyone heads to class.
All pupils get moving before lessons begin. Wednesdays and Fridays are full sports sessions; the other days have shorter movement routines to get the body and mind ready for the day ahead.
The main teaching block of the day. Pupils work through English, Mathematics, and other core subjects at a pace suited to their class level, with teachers keeping the sessions active and focused.
A proper break — pupils eat, go outside, and spend time with friends. Staff are always present to supervise and make sure everyone is safe and settled before the afternoon begins.
Lessons continue with group work, practicals, and subject activities that build on what was covered in the morning. This is often where pupils consolidate new ideas and ask questions.
The school pauses for Zuhr prayer and reflection. This is an important part of the school day, giving pupils an opportunity to step away from their lessons and reconnect with their faith.
The final lesson block of the day covers revision, assessments, and any remaining topics on the day's timetable. Teachers round up key points so pupils leave with a clear picture of what they have learnt.
Teachers give out homework and explain what is expected before the bell. School closes at 3:30 PM and pupils are dismissed in an orderly manner, with staff on hand to see everyone off safely.
Beyond the Classroom
Extracurricular Activities
Our pupils do much more than sit in classrooms. These sessions give children the chance to discover new talents, make friends, and grow in ways that standard lessons alone cannot provide.
Sports & Physical Activities
Physical activity runs through the whole school year, from morning drills to team games. The Inter-House Sports Day is the one every pupil looks forward to most — a full day of races, relay events, and fierce house competition that brings the entire school community together.
Drama
Drama sessions give children a different kind of stage to perform on. Whether acting out a scene or working with classmates on a short performance, pupils come away noticeably more confident and more comfortable speaking in front of others.
Sign Language
Once a week, pupils learn basic sign language. It is one of those classes that children enjoy far more than they expect to — and the awareness it builds around disability and inclusion goes well beyond what is taught in the lesson itself.
Coding
Weekly coding classes introduce pupils to logical thinking and basic programming in a way that feels more like problem-solving than sitting through a lesson. It is an early and practical start for children growing up in a world that runs on technology.
Communication, Diction & French
Three subjects, one goal — helping pupils speak well and carry themselves with confidence. Diction classes work on clear pronunciation and delivery. Communication Skills teaches children how to put their thoughts across properly, whether in conversation or in front of a group. French gives pupils a head start in a second language that opens doors well beyond primary school. Together, these sessions make a real and lasting difference to how children present themselves.
Marking the Year
Annual Events & Celebrations
There are certain days in the school calendar that pupils talk about for weeks beforehand — and remember long after they have left.
A fresh start to the term. New and returning pupils are welcomed, classes are assigned, and families get a chance to meet teachers and settle in before the work begins.
The school marks Nigeria's independence with performances, traditional dress, patriotic songs, and lessons on what the day means. It is a chance for pupils to feel proud of where they come from.
This day belongs entirely to the pupils. There are games, entertainment, gifts, and activities — no pressure, no lessons, just a day set aside to celebrate the children and let them enjoy themselves.
Pupils come dressed in traditional attire from across Nigeria's many ethnic groups. The day is filled with food, music, dance, and short presentations that remind everyone just how rich and varied Nigerian culture truly is.
The biggest sporting event of the year. Houses go head to head in races, relays, and field events, all competing for trophies in front of a crowd that includes parents, staff, and the whole school. The atmosphere on this day is something else entirely.
A proud and emotional occasion as Primary 6 pupils complete their time at Fahmid. Families gather to watch their children receive their certificates and mark the end of one chapter and the start of the next.
Holistic Wellbeing
Pupil Support & Wellbeing
A child who feels safe, well-fed, and looked after is far more likely to learn. We take that seriously, and it shows in how we run the school every single day.
Pastoral Care
Our staff do more than teach. They keep an eye on how pupils are doing emotionally, step in when there are friendship difficulties, and make sure that no child feels unseen or overlooked while in our care.
Health Services
First aid is available throughout the school day. Trained staff handle minor injuries and health concerns as they arise, and parents are contacted promptly whenever a situation calls for it.
Nutrition
Healthy snacks and meal options are available each day. We encourage good eating habits from an early age, and we make sure that no pupil goes through the school day without access to proper food.
Anti-Bullying
Bullying is not tolerated here — full stop. We have clear procedures for reporting and dealing with any incident, and children are taught from the start what respectful behaviour looks like and why it matters.
Learning Support
Pupils who need a little extra help get it. Through remedial sessions, targeted revision, and additional teacher time outside regular lessons, we make sure every child keeps pace and does not get left behind.
Safety & Security
The school gate is controlled and staff are present throughout the day. Emergency procedures are in place and practised regularly, so that everyone on the premises — pupils and staff alike — knows exactly what to do if needed.
