Admission Policy
What This Policy Covers
This policy explains how Fahmid Nursery and Primary School handles applications for new pupils. It applies to all admissions at both the Nursery and Primary levels, and sets out what parents need to do, what we look for, and how we make our decisions when places are limited.
Who We Admit
We admit children between the ages of 2 and 12, subject to available spaces and the following age requirements:
- Nursery 1: your child must be at least 2 years old by the first day of the new term.
- Primary 1: your child must be at least 5 years old and must have completed nursery or an equivalent pre-school programme.
- Mid-term and mid-school transfers are considered based on available spaces and the child's readiness for the class level they are entering.
How to Apply
- Collect and complete the Application Form from the school office or download it from our website.
- Return the completed form with all required documents and the non-refundable application fee.
- We will confirm receipt of your application within five working days.
- Where appropriate, your child will be invited for a brief informal assessment and we may ask to meet with you as well.
- If a place is offered, you will receive a formal letter and must confirm your acceptance within ten working days.
- A place is only secured once the registration fee and any required deposits have been paid in full.
Documents You Will Need
- Completed Application Form, signed by a parent or legal guardian.
- Two recent passport photographs of your child.
- A certified copy of your child's birth certificate.
- Immunisation records and a health declaration from a registered doctor.
- Most recent school report (for children transferring into Primary 2 or above).
- A copy of valid ID for the parent or guardian submitting the application.
If We Have More Applications Than Places
When a class is full, we give priority in the following order:
- Brothers or sisters of children already enrolled at the school.
- Children of current members of staff.
- Pupils returning after a period of absence.
- All other applicants, in the order in which their complete applications were received.
Fahmid School does not discriminate on the basis of gender, ethnicity, religion, disability, or family background. Every eligible child is considered fairly under this policy.
Waiting List
If a class is full, eligible applicants will be placed on a waiting list in date order. We will contact you as soon as a space becomes available.
